Today, in Second Grade we are going to be reading and writing about Jack Frost!
It is the perfect addition to our Ice and Snow Unit. We did a lot of science learning and now we can get some creative writing in the mix too!

After all that fact learning we decided it was time to use some imagination and write stories. We usually read a great snowman book and write stories inspired by that. But this year I decided to step outside of the box a little and teach the kiddies about Jack Frost.
First, I will display the colored version of the text on the Smartboard and we will read it as a class. Then, instead of writing a class story, we will brainstorm some topics and ideas.
The students will discuss their ideas in pairs and then will go off to write their own Jack Frost inspired story.
My early finishers will get to color their own Jack Frost mini-book and take it home to share with their families.
I can't wait for tomorrow! We are going to have so much fun!
